Community involvement

Taking action.

We are committed to making a difference.

We aim to give the best of ourselves each day in our work and in our community. Our Pro Bono Coordinator, Jessica Stankus Smith, works to find opportunities for our attorneys to provide assistance. And team members throughout BrownGreer participate in volunteer projects each year, including those selected by the BrownGreer Philanthropy Committee for sponsorship. A few recent examples include:

Atlantic Outreach: AOG’s Fresh Start Recovery Program a full-service recovery program designed to help individuals who are experiencing substance use barriers transition to self-sufficient living. AOG is one example of organizations nationwide that are working tirelessly to provide resources and support to people who are struggling.  In support of that effort in our local community, BrownGreer coordinated a supply drive in 2024.

The READ Center: The center helps improve literacy skills in adults throughout the Richmond community. BrownGreer donated and participated in the annual trivia bee hosted in April of 2024.

Safe Harbor: Supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking, Safe Harbor provides safe homes and help to transform their lives.

Higher Achievement: BrownGreer is a supporter of Higher Achievement, an organization whose mission is to leverage the power of communities to provide a rigorous year-round learning environment, caring role models, and a culture of high expectations, resulting in college-bound scholars with the character, confidence, and skills to succeed. BrownGreer employees serve as mentors in the Higher Achievement program.

Journey of Awesomeness: In June 2022, Partner Jake Woody accepted the challenge to ride 208 miles for The Journey of Awesomeness, an organization raising money for WorldServe and Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. The Journey of Awesomeness raised $265,000, which helped stock the food bank and aided WorldServe’s mission provide water in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Henrico Christmas Mother: The program, starting in 1942 has been a helping hand in the community. BrownGreer employees volunteered at the 2023 Christmas Mother providing assistance with food, clothing, books, for those in need.

RVA1004100: RVA1004100, a Richmond area charity event run by high school students, creates a shopping experience for children.
