The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles (“RCALA”) reached an $880 million settlement in 2024 to resolve 1,353 claims of sexual abuse of minors by clergy members and other employees retained or supervised by the Archdiocese. This is the largest single settlement reached by a Catholic Diocese.

BrownGreer serves as Claims Processor, Lien Resolution Administrator and QSF Trustee for the Settlement Program while the Hon. Daniel Buckley (Ret.) serves as Claims Administrator. Our duties included assisting Judge Buckley with his allocation duties, collecting the necessary Releases and supporting proof for the sexual abuse, and ensuring that claimants were paid in a timely manner according to the established allocation models and deadlines.

As part of our responsibilities in this settlement – now known as the RCALA Settlement Program – we established a secure website for the exchange of information between counsel for settling plaintiffs, counsel for settling defendants, and the Claims Administrator.
