BrownGreer Welcomes Higher Achievement!

Representatives from Higher Achievement visited BrownGreer today to share information with our employees about the organization’s mentoring opportunities in the Richmond area. Several BrownGreer employees serve as mentors with Higher Achievement, including attorneys Corinne Titmus, Lynn Greer and Justin Wind.
Corinne Titmus, who organized today’s visit, had the following to say, about her experience: “Last school year I had the opportunity to mentor a group of fifth graders and organize discussions and activities concerning the topic of social justice. I look forward to returning this year to mentor the same students as sixth graders. This experience has been extremely rewarding while also challenging me to take a step back and realize my strengths and weaknesses as a role model and leader. My favorite part about being a mentor has been building relationships with the students and watching their confidence and knowledge about social issues develop throughout the year.”
Justin Wind shared: “In my first year mentoring with Higher Achievement, I worked exclusively with eighth graders in the High School Placement program. I assisted my group with completing applications, writing personal statements and drafting essays. Through that process, I was able to bond on an academic and personal level with my eighth graders, as well as help them understand their value and potential to do great things at the next stage of their education. I am proud that all three of the young men I mentored gained entry into their preferred high school, and I look forward to helping a new group of students achieve their goals.”
