During his time at BrownGreer, much of Phil's time has been spent advising claims administrators in the resolution of class action settlements. His work has focused primarily on developing efficient protocols for the evaluation of thousands of claims, while ensuring compliance with the terms of settlement agreements and the distribution of benefits to eligible claimants.

In the past, Phil supported the Liaison Counsel for Wyeth in the $4 billion diet drug settlement. As part of that task, Phil played a role in the development of amendments to the Settlement Agreement which led to the resolution of thousands of Matrix claims. In addition, Phil served the Claims Administrator of the nation-wide class action settlement In re: Sulzer Hip Prosthesis and Knee Prosthesis Product Liability Litigation. He managed a team of analysts, claim specialists and computer programmers that evaluated settlement claims for eligibility and made determinations about payment. Through his work with the Sulzer and diet drug settlements, Phil has gained the experience required to oversee the claims processing, database design and payment of a billion dollar class action settlement trust.

In addition to work on large settlements, Phil has experience working with significantly smaller settlements surrounding various issues, including claims associated with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, pharmaceutical products and wage and hour issues. As a result of his background in this area, Phil understands that the success of a settlement requires the implimentation of practices that maximize efficiencies and allow the swiftest possible resolution of legal claims.

While in law school, Phil studied at the Emanuel College of Cambridge University, served as a teaching assistant for the Constitutional Law class of Professor John Paul Jones and participated in the John Marshall Seminar. Through these experiences he gained exposure to civil litigation, international law, comparative constitutional law and the legislative process. Each area of study uniquely informs Phil’s approach to mass claim resolutions.

Before law school, Phil attended at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. As part of his degree in history and political science, he studied the post-communist transformation of Central European nations at the Budapest University of Economics. While at Georgetown, Phil served as a director of the First Year Orientation to Community Involvement program and founded an annual service trip to Mexico through which Georgetown students constructed homes for underprivileged families.
