Beth is involved in all aspects of claims processes and reporting, with a specialty in the design and application of eligibility criteria and the assessment of fraud and other irregularities in submitted claims. She joined our group after serving eight years in the public sector. From 2000 to 2008, she was an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for Chesterfield County, where she prosecuted misdemeanors and felony charges in the General District, Juvenile and Domestic Relations, and Circuit Courts. In addition to her courtroom time, Beth's responsibilities there included interviewing victims and witnesses, answering police questions related to investigations and charging decisions, training law enforcement officers and personnel on Virginia laws and evidence collection, researching various criminal issues, and and writing legal memoranda.
While at the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Beth was active on many committees in Chesterfield County, but she was most heavily involved in the Chesterfield County Domestic Violence Task Force and the Chesterfield County Intimate Partner and Family Violence Fatality Review Team. She chaired the Task Force from 2005 through 2006. In that capacity, she oversaw monthly meetings and planned community awareness trainings. The Fatality Review Team was created in 2002 to review intimate partner homicides in Chesterfield County. She was one of five individuals responsible for creating the protocol, policies and procedures for the Fatality Review. Part of her responsibilities on the Fatality Review Team was to compile data, generate reports and present the findings and recommendations to the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors.
Before her work in the public sector, Beth began her practice with Bowen, Bryant, Champlin and Carr, a law firm in Richmond, Virginia. For two years in that firm, she focused on criminal law and domestic relations matters. She also performed as a Guardian Ad Litem, giving her valuable experience when dealing with the claims of minors and others presenting representative claimant issues.
Beth joined BrownGreer in March 2008.
