Scott acts primarily as a liaison between outside counsel and internal attorneys, programmers and data analysts, helping to facilitate the exchange of data and other information in mass torts, class actions and other matters involving the aggregation of multiple claims. He assists in the development of internal databases to administer and process claims, coordinates external requests for information and data, and aids in determining processes for the import and merging of data received from multiple external sources.
Prior to joining our group, Scott gained extensive experience both in various forms of data analysis and as an attorney. From 1999 to 2001, Scott worked as a Strategic Analyst for Royall & Company, a direct marketing firm, focusing on patent, trademark and copyright protections, particularly in the areas of electronic and Internet-based products. He assisted outside counsel in drafting business method utility patents and provisional patent applications; researched and analyzed trademark protections and assisted in preparing trademark applications; researched copyright issues and filed copyright applications; and drafted confidentiality agreements, privacy policies and various contracts for both vendors and employees. In a separate role as an Operations Analyst, Scott focused on the research, analysis and manipulation of data using large databases of client information.
Scott also has experience in project management, working as a Project Manager in the Risk Operations/Collections department for a large national credit card issuer from 1995 to 1999. His responsibilities included overseeing the completion and implementation of various projects involving data analysis and collection; enhancements to existing technology; changes to business policies and procedures; employment of strategic initiatives and the development and implementation of performance-based employee incentive plans. Scott was also employed in a separate role as a MIS Analyst with primary focus on querying databases and producing ad hoc reports in response to management requests.
Prior to working in these various business analyst positions, Scott began his legal practice with the firm of Kaestner, Pitney and Jones in Richmond, Virginia. There, he worked on general practice matters involving criminal law, corporate matters, domestic relations and workers’ compensation.
