Orran advises management, trustees, counsel and claims administrators on strategies for the management, the information and documents collection and management, the successful resolution of multiple claims, the negotiation and drafting of resolution plans, legal proceedings to obtain court approval, the efficient design and operation of group claims facilities, and compliance with the agreements and court orders governing the claims resolution process. He serves as a Special Master presiding over discovery, records collection and deposition scheduling and calendaring in coordinated multidistrict proceedings and has served as a trustee directing the implementation of a settlement program.
Orran has been an expert in these fields since 1990. He and Lynn Greer founded BrownGreer in September 2002 to specialize in these services and to assist parties and the courts in handling the information and issues presented in management and resolution of multidistrict litigation and multiple claim situations. He and his firm have played major roles in the $3.0 billion Dalkon Shield trust facilities established under the A.H. Robins bankruptcy plan for over 300,000 claims relating to the Dalkon Shield intrauterine device; the $3.875 billion class action settlement of the “Fen-Phen” diet drug litigation involving 600,000 claimants; the $4.85 billion Vioxx Resolution Program for 60,000 claimants; and the $1 billion class action settlement of 27,000 claims against Sulzer Medica relating to its hip and knee replacement joints, as well as many other personal injury and financial injury settlement programs.
